ESOL

What is it?

If English isn't your main language, you can do a course to help you improve your English. These courses are called ESOL or English for Speakers of other Languages. ESOL courses cover speaking, listening, reading and writing, vocabulary and grammar and punctuation. ESOL courses cover all different levels and abilities and learners learn together through group work as well as individual work.

Why take part?

Improving your English can help you get more out of your life in the UK. It will also help if you want to study, improve your CV, or apply to become a British citizen.

Improving your English will make it easier to:

  • talk to doctors and teachers
  • understand the laws and customs of the UK
  • do a course and get a qualification
  • help your child with homework
  • pass the Life in the UK test and become a British citizen

Who is it for?

For anybody that English isn't their first language and would like to improve their ability.

When and where will it take place?

Every Wednesday 11:00-1:00pm at Byker Sands Family Centre from 2nd November until 14th December 2011. A free Crèche is available for people living in the East End of Newcastle.
